It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again. We are now approaching our 32nd annual Sun God Festival, and we cannot wait to show you the surprises we have in store. ASCE is proud to present you another exciting lineup that we’re sure will offer something for everyone! Stay tuned to this site for the next couple weeks as artists are announced. This year, we will also be presenting a new festival arcade gaming area, as well as exciting art installations sure to complement your festival experience.
Wristband reservation for UCSD undergraduate students will go live on May 8th. We will be announcing the exact time on the website, so keep checking in! Additionally, as part of our commitment to the health and safety of all festival attendees, we will not be selling student guest, grad student, staff, or faculty tickets this year.
We also will continue our efforts to go green with this year’s festival. Please help us accomplish this by bringing a reusable, non-glass, empty water bottle for free water throughout the event. If you don’t bring a bottle of your own, official 2014 Sun God Festival water bottles will also be sold at our merch and water booths. Don’t miss out on your chance to get free water at the festival! In a further effort to reduce waste, our food vendors will not be selling disposable water bottles at the festival--even more of a reason for you to come prepared with your own reusable bottle! Please note even sealed disposable water bottles will be not be allowed into the festival. Check out the Water Program for full details.
Don’t forget to stay hydrated, well-fed, and, most importantly, safe during the festival! Be wary of situations involving alcohol and drugs, and be sure to look out for your health as well as the health of your peers. Health and Safety are our top priorities for our festival-goers and we aim to create a fun and safe festival environment. We have greatly expanded our health and safety measures this year to protect our festival attendees as well as our community at large. With almost 500 health and safety cases related to the festival in the past three years alone, the festival format underwent serious review and consideration in order to ensure that we can continue this longstanding tradition. Even with the changes, the festival can only do so much on-site since many of our issues persist off the festival grounds. It’s only with your awareness and actions that we can keep the festival a tradition, not history. For information on all of our new health and safety measures, please visit our Safety website. Trust us, you won’t want to miss a second of the music this year!
Some other important things to come are the Festival Map & Set Times. While both will be visible to all attendees via signs and video screens upon entering the festival, those details will also be added to the site by the beginning of Sun God Week.
Thanks for your support and get ready for another great year!
